Huntsville City Schools' Class of 2008
Sets New Record in Scholarships

Over 550 seniors from our seven high schools received scholarship offers for a total of almost 34 million dollars. This is the highest ever achieved since the school system started keeping records in 1975. Over 1000 of those offers were academic or scholastic scholarships, along with 75 for fine arts, and 62 for athletics. The Huntsville City Schools Class of 2008 had 41 National Merit Scholars; 17 of those students are National Merit Finalists.

Of the 1,279 graduating seniors, well over 1,100 will attend college or other institutions of higher learning this fall. These seniors will attend over 75 colleges and universities from across the country. Many have plans to attend state or regional colleges, while others will be enrolling in Ivy League Schools such as Harvard or Yale.
